KI4BWJs mobile install

KI4BWJ showcased his mobile install this afternoon to me of his Motorola CDM1550 radios in his truck.  This complement of VHF, 220 Mhz and UHF radios gives him full communication capabilities.  His homebrew console is at the center of the install.  Brad built it from plywood and other wooden components, then covered it with a vinyl coated fabric.  The top of his console is open to allow heat to escape and the bottom is open to allow access to coax and power connections.  Radios are easily removed for service.  The entire console is attached with L brackets to the transmission hump in his Ford truck.

Thanks Brad, for showing this off and for sharing your creativity (and your love of Moto gear as well!).

Nice install. Was wondering what antenna (s) you are using? I’ve got a new to me Suburban and have been considering a tri-band (144/223/440) Comet antenna for it.
