New Yaesu digital radios coming soon

This year at Dayton should be an interesting show with regards to digital communications.  DSTAR seems to be moving further downhill in choices for digital mobile radio in the amateur radio world.  APCO25 has been common for years across the nation, and DMR (Mototrbo) has created quite the national network (we have a repeater on it here!).

Who really knows what Yaesu is going to release, but here is a preview of what folks are seeing in Tokyo (where they always seem to see it first). A lot of it looks like it is styled after Motorola Mototrbo gear.  Yaesu/Standard/whatever they call themselves have released companion DMR radios for the commercial world.  It is possible some of the stuff that may be on display is intended for that market.  But look closely…It doesn’t all look like that.

This stuff has been under discussion in our forums as well.  I will stay tuned to see what else we can learn about this exciting change.
